On invitation of the Art Museum Gelsenkirchen the Lichtkeil was conceived as part of the museum’s permanent collection. The sculptural installation “ captures the sun, i.e. the daylight, from the roof of the museum, incorporates it into the sails of the sculpture and transmits it in a whirl of light to the floor of the foyer ” (Leane Schäfer). The Lichtkeil transforms a non-place in the architecture into a point de vue.

Auf Einladung des Kunstmuseums Gelsenkirchen wurde der Lichtkeil als Teil der ständigen Sammlung konzipiert. Die skulpturale Installation „ fängt die Sonne, also das Tageslicht, vom Dach des Museums ab, nimmt es in die Segel der Skulptur auf und leitet es in einem Lichtstrudel bis auf den Grund des Foyers“ (Leane Schäfer). Der Lichtkeil transformiert einen Un-Ort der Architektur in einen Point de vue.
